Thank you to our volunteer date keeper. I have no idea how to reestablish that. I'll have to ask Paul. I guess it's also about time for a trim.

Hi everyone! What a beautiful picture, Cat. Such exuberance. :D A happy belated birthday to you, Cat. I did a quick scroll, am sure I missed stuff. Janet, was thinking of you, how exciting about your new grand daughter! Congratulations to the whole family. Anyway we have had a busy few weeks. Ryan turned 2 on June 28th, and we took a trip to Disney Wolrd with the rest of the family. Had to drive from Atlanta to Orlando, which was kind of a pain, and then we had to drive the entire way back from Orlando to WI. We were flying standby and flights were full. It was still a lot of fun, though! Puck, I thought of you when we drove down I-75 ( I think it was?), saw the exit to your town at 3 am. ;) Since we got home we've been busy with the kids and their swimming and gymnastic lessons, but it's been a pretty fun summer so far. Going by way too quickly, though! Anyway gotta run but hope everuone is doing well. Take care, will try to pop in again soon. :)

ELESSANN - It seems Soap comas have the advantage of putting the patient into a state of suspended animation. No eating, no elimination. Just a sleeping beauty.
Diane

And who's been shaving him. And taking care of bodily functions. And why his hair isn't a mile long....
Puck

Just wondering - how long can a comatose-like person (i.e. Todd) go without nourishment? All I've seen him being given is some kind of knock-out drug.

Lisa: If I could find that photo quickly, I would post it, but i have no clue where it is. What a fun day that was - the museum was wonderful, too!
janet

CONNIE - I will try and commit that to memory and try it next time! I will let you know about my success -- THANK YOU!

I watched GH: Night Shift (taped from last night). It's interesting, but it's jarring. Jason's out of jail inexplicably, for example. The other is that since it's late night cable, so some of the things you'd never expect from a soap are there -- like Cooper and Maxie having realistic sounding and realistic looking sex, with her handcuffed to a pipe above, then Coop couldn't find the key when Mac showed up. A LOT of skin, too.

Diane – The method I gave for leg cramps would be good for someone to do to someone else but doesn’t really work for you to do for yourself since you can’t reach your toes to pull them back while keeping your leg straight. At least not with a leg cramp. lol The best thing to do is stand, putting pressure on the cramped leg and lean forward to get the effect of “toes to nose”. Once you put pressure on the ball of your foot and straighten out the leg, it just takes the cramp away. Hope it works for you!
Connie

Janet- from what I could see, Ms. Paige looks lovey! I also checked out your web page...gee, no photos from FAO Schwartz from several years ago??? ;D Or would that take away all your credibility wearing a propeller hat?!

Janet~ Congratulations on your new granddaughter. She's a cutie.
Josie

CAT - They should make a poster out of that picture of your niece. It's so triumphant. Very uplifting.
Diane
-
JANET - SHe's gorgeous! I just posted on your blog, and it has my blog name as Truthseeker. I guess I've used that before on some other blog and it carried it over. Didn't know how to change it so I jsut left it. But that's me. :)
Diane

They were just messing around - having a great time. I love her expression, though. She is always smiling. Just a little ray of sunshine.
Cat
-
Janet what a doll! All these GB babies are making me want another one!
Christine
-
Hmm....they all show up for me. Anyway, I think she's a doll. Such pretty features, and they think her hair will be naturally curly, an anomaly in the j family.
Janet
-
Merfuff, I set up my blog all by myself. If you go to www.blogspot.com I'll bet you can do it, too. And it's free!
Janet

1PM CDT 7/10 Oh Grammy, Paige is lovely! And so are her folks....blogsite works fine - did J compile it for ya? Smooches to all!
Merfuff

"Paige with Mom" isn't showing up, but everything else is there!
Puck

I have just started a blog. Pictures of the baby are at janetkayjensen.blogspot.com. If you try to access it, let me know if it works!
Janet
-
CONNIE - Thank you for the way to release a leg cramp quicker. I'm going to try and remember that for next time. You've been to alot of great states. I've never been to Oregon, but I would really like to someday. I'll bet the hiking is awesome up there. Like NY state.
Diane
-
JANET - Doh, I should have scrolled. I see that you will see baby Paige in just 4 more weeks!
Diane
-
PATTY B - How special that all your siblings got together for your mother's 90th birthday! Good for her! And all of you!
Diane
-
CAT - LOL! that picture! That's the same face I've seen on Olympians when they are sure they just won their first gold medal!
Diane
-
CONGRATULATIONS, Nanna JANET!!! How exciting!!! When will be the first time you'll get to go visit her?
Diane
-
wonderful photo, Cat! Baby Paige comes home today. Her other grandmother is there and LOVES babies, has a big family and lots of grandkids, so she will be very helpful with getting used to a newborn. Kevin is on cloud nine. Our kids in Finland are very anxious to have a baby (she miscarried in May) and it was a little hard on them to hear about this one. But they'll eventually have one of their own, I'm sure.
Janet

poor Max, that IS the face of victory, great smile

Janet: Ohio! Well thats a heck of a lot closer than Finland! Congrats again. Someday (soon) I'll need you advise on "letting go" of our kids. Mine is getting ready for college this fall and I am a wreck. I know he needs to experience the world and move on with his own life but what about mommy???? LOL

Congratulations! I always liked that name. Best wishes to all. The photo is one of my neice. She is exulting in a triumph over Max.

Congratulations Janet! How exciting for you. What a beautiful name. Cat, also a belated congratulations to you and your family. What a gorgeous baby. We just celebrated my mother's 90th birthday a couple of weeks ago. This is the first time my siblings have all been together for over nine years. It was just wonderful. Merf, so sorry to read about your mishap. I hope you are feeling better. My mother-in-law has one of those devices that connects her with emergency services. She is a severe diabetic and lives alone. I am pretty sure that Medicare covers it for her. You might check with them too

This baby lives in Dayton, Ohio, and i'll visit first week in August. I don't know how it will be to have grandchildren as far away as Finland!

sorry for the dbl post, my brain is slow this time of day, good thing it isn't 5:30 or it might have been atleast a triple post........

Janet: Congrats! How exciting for you and grandpa! When will you be taking off to Finland to hold this bundle of joy? and yes, tell Kevin there are many GB aunts here wanting to see her! Merf: what about transferring your house phone to a cell phone, thus you can carry something small and compact with you, get fantastic deals with long distance and in some cases you might be able to get it as cheap if not cheap than a land line (depends on the amount of chattin' you do)

Yeah, Emilia is after her mom, emily, but it will always be misspelled. However, middle names aren't used too often . . . . we were actually afraid they'd get really creative with a first name that would always be mispronounced so this is OK by us. ....... Lisa: doing OK, thanks. soooooooooo much better than this time a year ago. i should be walking more for my back's sake, but I've had some fluid on my knee and the doc says stay off it when I can, so there you have it. ......the hospital does have a baby picture gallery but so far nothing's been posted. And Kevin has taken a lot of pics but hasn't emailed them yet. He spent the night at the hospital so I don't even know if he's been home yet. We are anxious to see what she looks like!
Janet

Paige is indeed a lovely name! But did you drop a hint that they misspelled Amelia? *ducking*
Puck

Congratulations, Janet! Paige is a very pretty name. :) BTW - how have you been doing with your surgeries and recovery?

Paige Emilia was born 9:45 eastern time. 6 lbs 14 oz. 20 in long. She is healthy and "beautiful" and took to breastfeeding right away. DIL is exhausted and sore but OK. So we are very anxious to see pictures! Mr. J was on the computer last night or I would have posted before I went to bed!

Nno - - Kevin called 2 hours ago and said GUESS WHAT? and I said THE BABY's HERE! and he said no, but it's sure fun to tease you. I said enough already, he'd used up his quota. She was dilated to about 7, had just had an epidural and was drowsy. I didn't think they made you drowsy. Anyway, they are making progress and he says she's doing well. And when the baby comes, he will be busy for a while helping to weigh and measure and all that exciting stuff . . . so I'm still waiting . . . . .
Janet

No word must mean that baby is here!

ATTENTION GH FANS and satellite dish owners! -- SoapNet premiers the GH spinoff "GH: Night Shift" (herein after referred to in SOD TIDBITS as GHNS), Thursday at 11pm. The ads are VERY sultry, and the late time makes me wonder if this is going to be more.....um......"adult" than a regular soap! Of course, it might be that they don't want to interfere with their established "soaps the same day" schedule, which runs 7pm to 11pm. This is eastern time, BTW.
Puck
-
"front of the foot"??? I meant top of the foot -- the toes.
Connie
-
jennifer - I didn't know little kids got leg cramps. Poor girl! The best way to stretch out a leg cramp is to gently pull the front of the foot back toward the shin. To remember this, the saying is "toes to nose". It straightens out the back of the calf and relaxes the cramped muscle. It's similar to the stretch runners do before they go out running. And the best part is the cramp goes away quickly and doesn’t leave the leg sore like it is if you just suffer through it.
Connie
-
Merfuff - Yes, I would definitely check if your Soc. Sec. benefits would cover a Medical Alert device. I just did a quick check online, and there are many companies. The cost range per month is anywhere from $15 - $30. Some transmitters can be worn as a wrist strap or clip on attachment instead of the usual neck strap. I'd be a little concerned with the neck strap, that you could catch it on something on your way down and end up choking on it. Anyway, I'd just go with whatever company Soc. Sec. might cover, and then figure out the best way to wear it. I really hope you can get one because you definitely could benefit from it. Unless you can teach Mooch kitty to dial a phone! =^..^=
Connie
-
My SIL just got one of those alert devices. Wears it around her neck. If she presses it the people at the office call her. If she can talk, there's a speaker on her phone. If not, they start calling everybody on her list. Or they call an ambulance. She falls frequently and I've been after her to carry the mobile phone in her pocket or get a cell phone, or one of these devices. So we're glad she has it.
Janet

Just scrolled down a bit....MERF! You poor thing. I hope you're feeling a little better. It hurt just reading that :( cw- good catch on the 10,000...I couldn't hear the amount he said clearly and was going to rewind but didn't bother.
Kathleen

How exciting, Janet, keep us posted!!! 1-2 minutes is great....hopefully it'll happen VERY soon!!

1P CDT 7/9 LisaG, 'broke your butt' - LOL! Yeah, Janet, it did a lot of harm to fall that hard and work so hard to get the whey up. Who said 'med-alet'? Gonna see if Social Security might cover monthly bill, which I bet is formidable. Wheeee, new baby, Grandma Janet! My best wishes on the way....Jennifer, I feel like a nitwit NOT to have warned of the chasms at SD Zoo. The zoo train ride is really worth it despite the wait. My pal SueN saw a sweatshirt slogan which asked, 'If a beer makes you laugh aloud, is that a "brewhaha"'? Good 'un. Why doesnae Cole spill more on Todd's whereabouts than, 'Ask Miles'? Dipwit. I anticipate return of old fave actors in Aug, but already dread Asa' 'death'. Foop.
Merfuff
-
Good luck to your son and his wife on the baby. Maybe you'll know before the end of the day?.................................I'm watching a remarkably interesting program on a new network called "Ovation" (channel 274 on DirecTV). It's called "The Private Life of a Masterpiece". So far I've seen three episodes, on Degas' Little Dancer, Rembrandt's Night Watch, and Whistler's mother. I had no idea the Little Dancer was so controversial when it came out!

jennifer, glad you had a great time. Yeah, the walking is the worst part. . . our valley is very smoky today due to wildfires in our state, makes the eyes sting. Morning: Today is my last day of vacation. Not sure what I'm doing up at 5:26 AM on a Monday. :) MERFUFF: Sorry to hear about the fall. Hope all is well. WE flew home Saturday night. Plane was a half hour taking off, kids tired. Samantha got a cramp in her leg as we were landing, and Sawyer cried along with her on the landing. Everyone giving us advice about their ears popping, when that wasn't the problem at all. Trip was wonderful, but the zoo nearly killed me. Beautiful, but why in the world do they have such steep inclines to get to things? Major thing on Samantha's list of "must see" was the polar bear and you had to walk up this steep HILL to get to it. I'm surprised my knee held out. Maybe I'm in better shape than I thought? No, that can't be. :):):) Glad to be home to cooler weather, but we will be in the 90's this week. Suitcase still sitting inside the front door. Just vegged yesterday and caught up on AMC. LOVE the stuff between Adam and Zach. Finally, TK has someone to "act" with.

Janet my parents were just in Utah, I will have to aske them what part and if they heard or saw anything (I am sure not). They are going to the Grand Canyon today. And when I talked to my son he said it is VERY hot.
christine
-
We are having our biggest wildfire in history here in Utah. It's not too close to us but smoke is traveling quite a distance and no luck on containing the fire. ....I like NM too . . . would love to visit it again. My parents lived in Gallup, which I realize probably wasn't typical of the state, but I have been to Philmont and the ski areas and Taos and Albuquerque, all very nice places. My Finnish kids just got back from Slovenia and Croatia. . . what travelers they are.
Janet
-
cw – Good catch on the use of 10,000! I thought they meant they were only going to do it the two weeks before the anniversary, but they must be mixing it in already._________Christine – I hope your parents and child planned lots of indoor places to visit, or sightseeing from their car. One thing for sure, they’ll never forget that vacation!!___________Merf – Your fall sounds terribly painful and frustrating (to be unable to get up). You might want to check into one of those medical alert transmitters or something like that to call a friend to come help. I don’t know how they work exactly, but it seems like something that might come in handy. Hope the pain is lessening.
Connie
-
Diane – Sedona is beautiful!! It reminds me a lot of NM because they have similar elevation and vegetation. NM has a rugged beauty that just can’t be described. It holds a special place in my heart and is a big contender for our retirement place. Oh, I forgot to mention that we also lived in OR for almost a year. (My husband had to go up there for training so we kept our home here.) That is also a beautiful state… very different from the southwest! I love the ocean and the waterfalls! But the weather is a bit much to get used to. (Sorry, jennifer. lol) NM probably has the best weather – not as cold as PA (and what you remember in NY) and not as hot as here!!
Connie
-
Merfuff, I really sympathize with your incident! One morning a few years back I was getting ready for work and as I went down my stairs I fell and hit my tailbone. I ended up going in to work, but leaving because I could not sit down and was in such pain. IT took my several weeks to get over it and on occasion I still get pain there.
christine
-
OUCH! Sorry to hear you "broke your butt", Merf! I did that once on a high school ski trip...fell on a patch of ice while skiing...couldn't sit down during the entire 2 hour bus ride home. Hope you heal fast!
LisaG
-
MERF - I concur -- OOUCH on the tailbone injury! I've heard how much those things hurt! I hope you have something for pain.
Diane
-
Merf -- OUCH! I'm sorry about the tailbone pain. Sweetie sympathizes -- his Workers Comp injury concerns the tailbone (a tractor fell over on him when he was trying to load it on a trailer)...........................................JOsie -- the interview sounds fascinating! I'll have to YouTube it.
Puck
-
Puck: Or the easter eggs on lost, or the Where's Waldo series? ....Merfuff, I am sorry to hear about your tumble. Did you damage anything, other than your pride?....it's been unusually warm here in Utah as well, probably breaking some records......anyone see Mike Wallace and son on C-span? That was fascinating, as each 'interviewed' the other. They have different views on a lot of things and love to argue accordingly. His son is on Fox, which Mike seems to feel is, well, illegitimate :)and that his son sold out when he left the big three networks. You could tell they relished their discussions with each other.
Janet
-
Janet, et al, I'm kinda ok, but I fell 3 weeks ago and my, uh, fanny (tailbone) landed on the harrrd plastic footrest of the powerchair...then it took me an hour to haul myself up off the floor. I sit 99% of the time, so Ms Tailbone is a literal PIT, er, fanny - thanks for askin'! If my hair gets much longer, I'll hafta hire a braider ;).....Did everyone register to see the photos of previous OLTL-ers? I HATE to register all over online....Jennifer, how I envy ya in SD - wave at my dear friend Kerm for me ;) Truly hope OLTL is smart enuf to hang onto Peter/Nigel....gumminy, ROFL at VIK/David raggin' the whack outa Dori - Dori is SO easy to bait!...Wish Marty would save herSELF - might redeem the character for me.

My parents and child are currently vacatining out west. they were in Phoenix and are going out to Las Vegas and the area...... nice time during this heat wave!

Puck

JENNIFER - Staying home with the kids with pizza and movie sounds like a great way to spend the evening! I would choose that over going out any day! Hope you have a safe trip back home.

CONNIE - I'll bet NM was lovely! A friend of mine just moved from Phoenix to outside of Albuquerque. I visited Santa Fe in the late 80's and really loved it. It was SO clean and the air was so fresh. I'm in LA. Yes, I think I like California the best to live in but I sure do love alot of things about Arizona and NY state where I'm from. I miss Sedona ALOT. Do you take trips up there? It's a nice break from that 3-digit heat since it's so much cooler up there, especially in Oak Creek Canyon. Ahh....I can feel the cool air now.
Diane
-
LOL Kathleen! That would be enough to cause insomnia!! BTW, I'm pretty sure I read that they are making David a Buch. Just don't know where they're going to go with that since TW isn't staying full time.
Connie
-
Connie - sorry to have THAT going through your mind as you were trying to sleep! You're having enough trouble already....I'm sure you didn't need OLTL's teens in your head ;-)
Kathleen
-
Oh, duh, NF is right in the beginning! I must have scrolled too quickly... It's so great to see so many old favorites!
Kathleen
-
I'm looking forward to seeing how they will fit in the number 10,000 in every episode for those two weeks. Should be fun, except for the fact that we'll be losing Asa. For Merf's sake, especially, I hope they find a way to keep Nigel. I read on another board a thought that maybe Asa would leave part of the mansion to Matthew (and Nora) and part to Bo, and they were hoping that would eventually bring Bo and Nora back together. (That would make me happy since Bo and Nora were my all-time favorite couple!!) And it could explain why the arson story took so long and has kept Nora in the mansion. Anyway, keep the mansion and keep Nigel!

Morning - Belated Happy Birthday - Cat!! just waiting for everyone to rise and shine. I seem to be the first one up every morning. New homes still being constructed in the area so I am greeted by the gentle drone of a cement truck doing its thing. Heading for the zoo today. Had a fairly quiet day yesterday. Everyone but Samantha and I headed for the beach. We went to the pool to practice her swimming and play "Go Fish." She is very into the card game now. I stayed home with kidlets last night - we had pizza and watched the final Pirates of the Caribbean movie. Samantha has a "crush" on Johnny Depp. I hadn't seen the movie before, but Samantha was gracious enough to tell me what was going to happen scene by scene. She told me the end 20 minutes into the movie, which I guess was a good thing as we all only lasted until 10:30.

Charles Gibson must not be used to being Paparazzo-stalked, because he has quite the idiotic look on his face! MY HEAVENS, but Cordero looks fantastic, for such an old guy! (kidding!). I'm thrilled to see Nathan Fillion -- I guess he's now CONFIRMED, rather than "maybe" signed on to do it! Merf, there are Nigel pics!!!
PUck

It's awesome to see Cord and Kevin!!!
Kathleen
-
Connie - thanks for posting that link...those pictures are great! I guess Charles Gibson happened to walk by or something at the end there? Oh, and I didn't mean the actual musical we saw, but the part where Starr was in the dressing room getting ready for the 'real' musical (the one Blair had taped)...that same evening Marcie and Michael went out for dinner (and it was Jen's birthday memory, etc.)
Kathleen
-
Wow...Jane Fonda is on the Letterman show...she said she's going to be turning 70 soon...she looks amazing!!!
LisaG

Puck - That's hilarious!!_________Kathleen - I was wondering about that too. I'm thinking the musical was taped out of sequence from the rest of the stuff, and they weren't very careful when they edited it all together.__________Here are some great photos of the actors who were there for taping the 10,000th episode -- http://www.digitalrailroad.net/StevenBergman/Production/PhotoGroupView.aspx?pbid=4&msa=1&pgid=9843104

Connie -- Sweetie has a THICK Georgia accent. I can mimic it, when I need to (when I'm in Southern company, or trying to make a point when I'm teaching). I've definitely picked up some words and phrases, like "I done did it" -- although I know better to use THAT when I'm teaching!!
Puck
-
Oh, and did anyone notice some major continuity issues? The night of Starr's play was the longest night ever! All that stuff with John/Marty/Miles, and then she goes off to Cole's play. In the meantime, Lindsay babysat while Michael & Marcie went to dinner. She even put Tommy down to sleep. So did Marcie just skip the musical then? That's pretty odd since she was in charge?! Is it me, or was this really bad?
Kathleen
-
Speaking of different areas of the country… Puck, we had a phone message today from someone from GA, and, boy, is that a thick southern accent!!! I think you said Sweetie is from there, but are you? And, if not, have you picked up the accent at all, or do you stand out like a sore thumb?
Connie
-
Diane – I knew you’d lived in Phoenix, but I didn’t know how long. We moved here from PA in ’83, spent a few years here, then 12 years in NM, then back here about 9 years ago. I love the monsoons too, not only for the rains but for the change of pace from constant sunshine. lol What part of CA are you in – near LA? Is it always that dry there? Have any of the fires ever been near you? We drove I-5 last fall on the way to Sequoia and Yosemite and had to drive through the smoke from one of those fires. It gave me a really bad headache, so I pity anyone who has to live near that. Do you like CA the best of any of the places you’ve lived?
Connie
-
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3FgMLROTqJ0 Ok, my last word on the subject...Unless a woman is attacking a man or has hit him, there's absolutely no excuse for him hitting her. Heck, that rule goes for anyone...unless you're defending yourself, there's no excuse to hit someone. This clip absolutely disgusts me.
LisaG

I will not even entertain you all as to what I see when I see Sean Connery.... I know about all the wife beating stuff but I don't just don't beleive its as he is being portrayed. As for James Bond, he was the best ever.

JANET - I worked in the Transition area of a Headstart program in Phoenix, and I think the grade schools are still very good in Phoenix. I got to travel to several of them to complete a research project, and if I had had kids, I would have wanted them to go to schools like that.
Diane
-
jennifer, glad to hear you're having a wonderful time. Expect your sunburned scalp to itch and peel. I burn so easily, and that's one place I sometimes forget to protect. ........ I lived in Phoenix for grades 2-6 and I remember our schools as being very good. Wonder where Merfuff is these days? Hope she is doing OK . . . . .
Janet
-
CONNIE - I didn't know you were in Chandler, AZ!! I lived in Phoenix for 2 years in the early-mid 90's. What a HOT place! I did enjoy the monsoons in August, though! Hopefully, you'll get your rain then. We only had one day of rain last October and probably won't get another day like that until this October if we're lucky. We could sure use the rain, too. JENNIFER - Ouch on the head! Hurts to comb your hair after that. The media room is in nephew's house?

Puck- me too! I wish they'd convince TW to stay, and then make him a Buchanan already!

I still can't watch Sean Connery without always thinking that he's a wife beater...very sad.

Kathleen -- yes I did! David is hilarious! I puffy-heart Tuc Watkins! I loved Viki's talking about his "classic lines", too. ...................................Jennifer -- totally agree that Craig is a great Bond, and I was VERY reminded of Sean Connery, especially in the tougher Bonds like "Dr. No".

BTW - did anyone else crack up at David's line about a horrible tan line due to his anklet? He delivers the funniest stuff!

Hello from sunny San Diego (actually Carlsbad). We are a Google site again - surprised to find the guestbook that way again. Enjoying the sun a lot other than burning the top of my head to a crisp. Spending time with the kids is a blast. We all went to Marine World yesterday and tomorrow the San Diego Zoo. Nepew's new home is lovely and I have my own private bedroom and bathroom. Might take them up on their offer of "anytime" more often. Spent first two days poolside working on a "tan." :) They have a "media" room so got to see the Daniel Craig "James Bond" movie - finally. I enjoyed it. Probably the best Bond since Sean Connery.

LisaG – I’ll send you some warmth if you send me some rain. Here in Chandler, AZ it got to 114 today and is supposed to again tomorrow. I don’t see how anyone survives in Las Vegas though!!__________I guess every pet is different as far as what they allow us to do to them. Our female cat is very pliable, but our male cat freaks out for just about anything. Here’s a picture of them from Cinco de Meowo -- http://members.cox.net/crayzee57/Gatos.jpg You’ll notice the hat is just sitting on top of his head! lol

Geez, the manufacturer is happy the plastic in his rubber duckies will last 100 years. How about sending this guy to a landfill for his next vacation to see all the plastic sitting in there for the next century. How wonderful. He needs to move into the year 2007. Got that gripe out of my system, so now Happy 4th of July, Everybody! Bummer about the rain on the east coast! My sister has alot of relatives over with baked beans, etc. and now everyone is indoors eating during the rain. Probably, though, local fireworks displays will reschedule their show for this weekend, hopefully. No wonder we missed CAT's birthday, the birthday schedule is gone.

*** HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY!!! *** Well, it's cold and rainy here in CT, but I think I'll take that over the weather out west...128 degrees in Las Vegas today!!! Yipes! Hope all you westerners stay cool! I'm going to spend the evening watching the musical "1776" and eating hot dogs....how American can you get? ;)

Oprah had the world's smallest dog on her show a while ago. The owner had dressed it in a flowered dress and Oprah asked her to take it off because 'prints make you look bigger on TV.' Anyway, it was a teeeeeny chihuahua. . . . . . and she had the world's tallest dog, a great dane, 7'2 when he stands on his hind feet and puts his paws on your shoulders. He is a therapy dog, just a real sweetheart. My dogs don't even like the bandanas the groomers put on them. . . . . . everybody have a safe and happy holiday.

http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,287759,00.html ---------------- Long-Lost Rubber Duckies Head for British Beaches.... Tuesday , July 03, 2007.... By Simon de Bruxelles, The Times ---------------- A flotilla of rubber duckies, washed overboard from a container ship in the North Pacific in 1992, is about to invade Britain, according to an American oceanographer. ---------------- For the past 15 years Curtis Ebbesmeyer has been tracking nearly 30,000 Chinese-made plastic bath toys — yellow ducks, green frogs, blue turtles and red beavers — that were released into the Pacific Ocean when a container was washed off a cargo ship during a storm. ---------------- Some of the bath toys, marketed in the U.S. as "Friendly Floatees," are expected to reach Britain after a journey of nearly 17,000 miles, having crossed the Arctic Ocean frozen into pack ice, bobbed the length of Greenland and been carried down the eastern seaboard of the United States. ---------------- Ebbesmeyer, who is based in Seattle, said yesterday that those that had not been trapped in circulating currents in the North Pacific, crushed by icebergs or blown ashore in Japan were bobbing across the Atlantic on the Gulf Stream. ---------------- Any beachcomber who finds one of the ducks or their kin will be able to claim a $100 reward from the toys' American distributor, The First Years Inc. ---------------- The ducks began life in a Chinese factory and were being shipped to the U.S. from Hong Kong when three 40-foot containers fell into the Pacific during a storm on Jan. 29, 1992. ---------------- Two-thirds of them floated south through the tropics, landing months later on the shores of Indonesia, Australia and South America. ---------------- But 10,000 headed north and by the end of the year were off Alaska and heading back westwards. ---------------- It took three years for the Friendly Floatees to circle counterclockwise east to Japan, past the original drop site and then back to Alaska on a current known as the North Pacific Gyre before continuing north towards the Arctic. ---------------- Many were stranded as the currents took them through the Bering Strait, which divides Alaska from Russia. ---------------- Ebbesmeyer predicted that they would spend years trapped in the Arctic ice, moving at the rate of one mile a day towards the Atlantic. ---------------- In 2000, eight years after their journey began, the ducks were reported in the North Atlantic. In 2003, when they were expected to wash up on the American eastern seaboard, The First Years announced the reward offer. ---------------- By that point the Floatees had been bleached white by the sun and sea water. ---------------- Sightings in the past two years have been scant, but oceanographers believe that their next port of call is southwestern England, southern Ireland and western Scotland. ---------------- Simon Boxall, of the National Oceanography Centre in Southampton, England, said that the ducks offered a great opportunity for climate-change research. ---------------- "They are a nice tracer for what the currents are doing as they travel around the world, and currents are what determines our climate, and cycles of carbon," he said. "I would ask [vacationers] to keep an eye out, as they might be very few and far between by now. It's a real adventure story and the plastic should last 100 years, so we hope it will continue." ---------------- The landfalls have all been logged on a computer model called the Ocean Surface Currents Simulation, which is used to help fisheries and find people lost at sea. ---------------- Two children's books have been written about the saga and the ducks have become collector's items, some changing hands for $1,000.

Hey Everybody!! Hope to catch up tomorrow ... in the meantime I have stumbled across some upsetting info ... I was looking for Sarah Roberts and this page came up from ABC ... http://abc.go.com/daytime/onelifetolive/characters/bio?pn=characterbio&character=Natalie%20Buchanan&longBio=true ......... more importantly, here is a quote: "Nieces: Sarah "Flash" Roberts, Megan Buchanan (deceased), Brennan Buchanan (deceased)" .......................... What did or is going to happen to Bree?? Have you heard any of this?????

Cole had better NOT give in to Miles, because he'd ruin it with Starr. ................LOL at Sarah's furniture. You guys have good eyes!....................TOTALLY LOVING David with Viki. But then, I'd love David with the local newspaper, an ugly cat, Home Shopping Channel, or reading the OT edge-of-your-seat books Judge and Numbers on tape.

The reason for Todd being offsscreen was so that TSJ could shoot two movies. I think that they should bring back RH as the real Todd and have dueling Todds until one turns out to be Mitch's brother and the father of Tommy. That way Miles can feel what is it is like to unwittingly fued with your own brother like everyone else in Llanview has. ................. I also really like how they brought up the (ancient) history between David and Viki (vivid?) with respect to him impersonating Todd.
cw

LOL cw.. I hadn't noticed that but that's so funny! and yes, I hope that Todd is back soon.and yuck to the preview I saw of Miles and Cole with Todd .. they have taken this story as far as it needed to go (and beyond IMO)...IF Cole does as Miles suggests/ask, I see this as a way for Miles to hang on to Marty even more, don'tcha think? :)
Anita

LOL cw!!! I too hope that Todd is out and about soon...

Anyone think the real reason David can't use the carrige house is because Viki gave all the furniture to Sarah? How else do you explain the furniture being in Sarah's apt. in Chicago?

I love the Vicki/David scenes. SO funny. I hope this storyline about Todd being dragged around like a sack of potatoes is wrapped up soon. It's dumb and I miss Todd. He needs to get vertical again and start kicking some butt.

CONNIE - Those foam ear plugs are great! And I have one of those rain machines, too. I used to use both things when my neighbor on the other side of the wall would start his caterwalling (that he thought was singing) every night. Problem was, I could still hear him faintly but it was better so I could go to sleep.
Diane

CONNIE - Thank you for the Laxtone info! I will stop by the pet supply store on my way home and get a tube (or however it comes). You know, I did the same thing with the doubling up of herbs. I bought some that didn't seem to be working at all. I was so exasperated. So then I just doubled it, and wala! It worked! I think some people just need more. Or at least in the beginning.

I agree about the mind. Sometimes I just have something I am worrying about or thinking about doing and can't sleep very easily. I will even wake up and think about it.

Janet & Diane – I exercised a little before getting ready for bed last night and also took two of the herbal supplements instead of just one, and I did finally sleep pretty good! :) Who knows if that’s repeatable, or if it was just bound to happen eventually. lol_____________Diane, thanks for all the info on Chinese herbs, etc. I will save it in case I need it. Today I pulled out a list my chiropractor had given me a few years ago, and he had suggested An Shen herbs, among other things. I have never tried any of the Chinese herbs, but I have passed by a few acupuncturist shops with Chinese writing on the windows, so I’m sure they would be a good source for them.____________I just thought of a few other little tips to share: foam ear plugs (I like Flents “Quiet Please”), a sleep mask to block out light, and a sound machine that makes sounds like a waterfall, rain, etc. Those are all things that help with external problems, but you’re right, Janet, turning off the mind is the hardest thing.

Diane – Yes, you can get Laxatone without a prescription. We used to buy ours from our vet, but now it’s even available at Petsmart and Petco. It comes in malt or tuna flavors. I just checked online and it’s on sale for $5.97 at Petco thru July 4th. (I assume that matches up to store prices, but I’m not sure.) Here’s a link to the product description -- http://www.petco.com/shop/product.aspx?sku=16730&cm_ven=biz&cm_cat=55&cm_pla=16730&cm_ite=16730#details And here is a link to some customer reviews, where one person specifically mentions how it helped their older kitty with constipation -- http://www.petsmart.com/global/product_detail.jsp?cm_ven=bizrate&cm_cat=mercent&cm_pla=datafeed&cm_ite=53537&ASSORTMENT%3C%3East_id=2534374302023690&FOLDER%3C%3Efolder_id=2534374302025585&PRODUCT%3C%3Eprd_id=845524441778361&bmUID=1183341319229#detail There are also other brands which make hairball remedies with more natural ingredients, in case you want to avoid petroleum or mineral oil. We switched to one brand that has no sugar in it for our one cat, Molly, who tends to have a weight problem. And I just noticed one that has vitamins in it too, so I might look for that one next time -- http://www.petco.com/product/102772/Nutures-Nutri-Gel-3-in-1-Formula-for-Cats.aspx

CONNIE - Can I get that Laxotone without a presciption? PUCK - LOL! on the fake American names of the Indian tech support people! It is so funny. I swear, they have an accent that cannot be disguised. It just gets to be funny when you hear their American name like that will fool us! I heard my chiropractor answer the phone once. Boy, did he get mad. Apparently it was someone calling to accuse him of not meeting with some auditor or something like that. He says, "Your person never came out! We were here! We're open 5 days a week from 8:30 am until 6:30 pm! Your person never showed up. (a few seconds) I don't give a d*mn what your computer screen says. They weren't here. Come on -- I KNOW your in India so don't try and tell me who was here when they weren't!" Yeesh....right after that he wanted to adjust my neck....

Oh, CHRISTINE, something is SO rotten with that place. I can't believe it. They are crazy. Where do they get off telling you who to socialize with on your own time? I don't like it one bit. It sounds like they will screw you next chance they get. They probably don't like good people like yourself and the other person they drove out. I hope they either get rid of whoever is on top or that you find some other place worthy of you. Their behavior reminds me of the childish paranoid behavior I encountered when I worked at the studios. It took me 2 years to recover from that place. Thankfully, my next job was among social workers so I could heal. You deserve better co-workers and managers than they have at that place.

Happy birthday Cat!................................RE: Indian tech support. LisaG, it was 9am when she called. I don't think anywhere in the US it was evening! ________________________________ I didn't tell you all what happened at work. I got in trouble for "gossiping". Funny thing is the people involved named didn't even work together the day it happened! My boss is like "oh we should have checked this out".... darn right. I was told I had mentioned when they will fill our assitant manager position in the department. THis was the one vacated by the poor sould who was brow beaten into quitting and kicked out before her 2 week notice and told to NEVER come back. I stated my innocence but was asked who said this who said that. It was like I felt I was before the gestapo! Next time, I was told, I will be written up! In didn't even do this! That day was my parents anniversary and I spoke how excited I was because I had bought them a digital camera and how it would have been my ex's and mine anniversary! I feel like we are being spied on. What is interesting is that our former head just has this fear of this former employee. I was also told not to socialize with my friend who is a former employee because she is "screwed up". I be they would love to know she came to my wedding!

CONNIE - Thank you so much for the help with the cat constipation! I will go to that site! I tried the canned pumpkin last night mixed in her wet food. She ate well for about 2 minutes, and then gave it up. Tonight I will try mixing it in baby food. Oh here she comes. She knows I'm talking about her.....Oh dear, you sound just like me with the menopausal insomnia. The only things that have been helping me at all are the Chinese herbs. OH --- Something else, too -- Bach Flower remedies makes a sleep formula now. I got some free samples, and it worked. My mind slowly slowed down and off to sleep I went. Right now I'm taking a formula Dr. Christianne Northrup recommended in her book on menopause. It's Chai Hu Long Gu Mu Li Pian. It dispels heat (hot flashes) and calms rage and moods associated with menopause. I have been sleeping fine since I started taking it. It doesn't say it's specifically for insomnia, but it seems to be working ok. There was another one which the FDA took off the market (they don't like products THEY don't make money off of) -- Jin Bu Huan. Can't get it anymore but that tiny little pill put you in the best sleep you've had since infancy. And you woke up feeling better than new. If you have any acupuncturists in your area who have studied Chinese medicine, it would be good to go to them. That's how I found out about An Mien Pian and Suan Zao Ren many years ago. If I'm really upset, I'll take this formula and go to sleep. Good luck. You deserve a good nights' sleep.

CHRISTINE - She could have been. I saw a 60 Minutes segments a few years ago about customer help being outsourced to India. They DO actually teach them to speak to sound American. They even teach a southern accent. I haven't found an Indian person who was good at faking it yet, but you may have gotten one. I don't know how you could really tell these days anymore.
Diane
-
Christine...depending on where you live vs. where she lives, could be the time difference. I've noticed more and more I'm getting American people answering customer calls...and I couldn't be happier, because I can understand everything they say! I wonder if companies realize Americans are getting fed up with off-shore, unintelligible employees? I know I've complained a few times and have just hung up to call again until I get someone I can understand.
LisaG

Happy birthday Cat!I remember when my son was about 2 weeks old my mom took him for the night. How wonderful it was to just sleep...---------------------------- When you all mentioned outsourcing I thought of this phone call I got the other day. This woman iwth a Southern accent bordering on the extreme called about my husbands Discovery Magazine renewal. She was very very friendly asking how the weather was etc.... I told her to call back. So yesterday morning she called and spoke to my husband. As she hung up she said have a good evening. Makes me wonder if she was calling from India and had a fake southern accent.

Diane - Here's a site I had bookmarked on cat constipation -- http://www.littlebigcat.com/index.php?action=library&act=show&item=constipatedcats
Connie
-
Diane - Now I have a question for you (or anyone else who may have info to share). Do you have any recommendations on sleep help? I’ve pretty much always had problems with insomnia but it’s gotten worse since menopause. I’ve tried Melatonin, Lavender oil spray, even other-the-counter sleeping pills (I know you shouldn’t use them, but I was desperate) – all with limited success, depending on my body chemistry at the time. I’ve been adding magnesium to my diet but have to limit it because of the laxative effect. Last night I tried a new product that has valerian root, chamomile, passion flower, lemon balm and L-theanine in it. It did nothing, although the bottle says you can take more than I took, so I might give it another try. The reason I ask you is that I remember one time a long time ago you mentioned how your throat muscles are the last to relax when you fall asleep and that it helps to concentrate on that. That was helpful advice, and I just wondered if you had any other tips.
Connie
-
Diane - Yes, our vet advised pumpkin for the cat we used to have who had lots of trouble with constipation when he started getting older. We tried the canned pumpkin, but he didn't really like it too well. Hopefully Natasha won’t be as finicky. You could also try some Laxatone or something similar if you have any around. That might help get things moving. Our vet also recommended Flint River Ranch food since it has more fiber in it than the grocery store brand we had been feeding him. It’s more expensive but you use a lot less and it’s much better for them.
Connie

Happy Birthday, Cat!!
Connie
-
Diane; In DIL's case, the tech support people were Americans, living in the US. So when you dialed them up, you knew they were in Portland, Oregon! I hadn't thought of the outsourcing possibilities. Lisa, take care of yourself!
Janet
-
Has anyone here ever tried the pumpkin thing for when you're cat is having digestive trouble, i.e. constipation? I've heard other people tell me about it but I never paid too much attention. My vet is closed all week, and Natasha (who is 15) is having trouble. I bought some pureed pure pumpkin at Whole Foods to mix into her food tonight. Supposedly, cats actually like the pumpkin.
Diane
-
JANET - Oh, dear. On the other hand, that gives companies the ability to have technical help in India bypassing American technicians. I'm so p*ssed about outsourcing in this country. Oh well, I'm p*ssed about too many things these days.
Diane
-
LISA - a Kit? It's not from the Acme company who makes all those kits for Wile E Coyote, is it? :)
Diane
-
Diane - LOL...no, I'm not a "Reverend", I'm just ordained. When I get the kit, I'll know what states I can practice in and what steps I might have to go through in each. But that's kinda kewl, huh? :) And yeah, that tornado warning really scared me, cause we actually HAD one a couple of months ago...not only that, how reliable does that make the EBS system on cable? Not very, if they broadcast wrong information.
LisaG
-
Happy Birthday, Cat...early or late...hope it's a wonderful day!------------------I agree with the comments about sleep deprivation...not something to mess with...your body need sleep to regenerate/heal after the day's activities. I went through that when I was the PM for that external contract at Stanley...18 months of 3-4 hours of sleep a night did me in and I started to have muscle twitches during the day...like the ones you have when you're falling to sleep. Horrible! I thought I was getting Parkinson's or MS or something, but the neurologist was a smart cookie and after he found nothing physically wrong, his first question was could I be sleep deprived? Well, I started laughing and told him about the job and he said that was it...but I think this also brought out my RLS, which I never had severely before. Now I go in and out of 'remission' with the RLS...boughts of sleep deprivation bring it on, like last year's problems when I had such horrible neck/back pain, I couldn't sleep for more than 2-3 hours at a time for a month. I'm back on the meds and it helps a bunch. Soooooooo, what's my point? Do everything you can to ensure you get enough sleep each night, to avoid other illnesses.
LisaG
-
Diane: you "invite" the other person at another location to take over your computer (with codes) and then sit back and watch things happen on your screen! It's pretty wild. So with viruses or other stuff, a remote service call is often all you need. My DIL's law firm had several offices, and their tech support people did it all the time. Technology is amazing. ..... is it CAT's birthday? Hope you get a good nap!
Janet
-
JANET - I would hire Jeff if I ever needed him. That sounds like a great idea. I had no idea that could do "remote" set-up. Cool. CAT - I'm so glad you got a good nights' sleep! And I'll bet grandma just loved having her little grandbaby, Etain, with her all night. A good nights' sleep can really replenish all that energy and focus.
Diane
-
LISA - That is SO bizarre how they broke in and announced a tornado warning. Makes me wonder if it was supposed to be just a test but they accidently messed up and it broadcasted. Yeah, no wonder Americans are known for their ignorance of facts by other countries. 1922?? Oy.

Cat, how marvelous that must have felt. Did you have a c section this time, too? ........lisa, hope your kitty bite healed OK. I have since learned they can cause cellulitis. Mr. J had a terrible bout with it last spring after a root canal. His face swelled so terribly, it looked like he had a tennis ball in his cheek. He ended up in the hospital for a couple of days for IV antibiotics and morphine. It was as sick as I have ever seen him. We got little nips and scratches from our kitties over the years, and just washed them with soap and water, never thought much about them! ........well, Jeff did a search and found me "the" laptop. It will be an HP. When compared with what the local store had, this has many more features for less $. I should have it in 2 weeks. Then he will get online with me and do a remote setup. He and his buddies have bought software and can do remote repairs, are building up a clientele. He did it for me thru windows several times, and fixed some problems I was having, but he says this software is even more efficient. I hope he gets LOTS of clients cuz tuition is tres expensive......saw Spitfire Grill last night at our local summer rep. It's an endearing musical. Also, Picnic (well done) and Cash on Delivery (hilarious). Next week is A Member of the WEdding. I couldn't find the play but I did find the short story to familiarize myself with the story. It's been too long since I studied the play in college. .......just 2 more weeks (or any time now) for granddaughter to make her appearance. Her name will be Paige. I think that will fit well when she's any age. I cannot imagine what it's like to be a grammy, but I'm told it's more fun than being a mom. Most grandmas can sleep through the night most of the night. Sleep deprivation is one of the hardest things about being a parent to young kids. After a long night they're ready to party and you're ready to crash.

I was so sorry to hear about Joel Siegel. He was always so amusing in his film reviews!..........................................As to the July 4th history, that's just horrible and shocking. What the heck are they teaching people in school these days????? Oh, I forgt -- they're teaching them how to take a standardized test. *huge eyeroll* ........In my American Lit class, we teach a section that includes the letters that flowed between John and Abigail Adams. In one of them, John rhapsodizes that "this day, July 2nd, will live on in the minds of the people" (or something like that). It was actually signed by MOST signers on the 2nd, but the stragglers finished signing by the 4th. Poor man thought he was marking a moment in history, but he was two days off!

God Speed, Joel...------------------- Film critic Joel Siegel dies at 63------------------- June 30, 2007------------------- Reuters ------------------- Joel Siegel, the upbeat and often joyous film critic for ABC television's "Good Morning America" for 26 years, died on Friday at age 63 after a long battle against colon cancer, the network said. ------------------- Siegel, who was surrounded by family and friends when he died in New York, had stopped working just two weeks ago, and colleagues said he had maintained such a positive attitude that few people realized how sick he was, according to the network. ------------------- He had been a regular fixture on "Good Morning America" since joining the broadcast in 1981. He previously reviewed films for ABC affiliates and other networks. ------------------- His Friday movie reviews were a staple on "Good Morning America" and no matter how bad the film, it could not daunt Siegel's spirits. ------------------- He delivered his pans and plaudits in a terse but witty style. Reviewing one popular film last year, he said: "'The Pursuit of Happyness'" gets a C for spelling and an A for acting. It could also get an Oscar for Will Smith." ------------------- In a review of "Letters from Iwo Jima," he said the Japanese-language war drama was "the only contemporary film I've ever reviewed that I felt safe calling a masterpiece. It's not about the enemy, it's about humanity, and Clint Eastwood proves you don't have to understand the language to understand the heart." ------------------- Of Matthew McConaughey in "We Are Marshall," he said the performer's appeal "has long evaded me both as a pinup and as an actor. His constant ticks, bad hair and strained syntax as a coach fumble what should have been the tragic and inspirational story of the rebuilding of Marshall University's football team after a devastating plane crash." ------------------- "Joel was an important part of ABC News, and we will miss him," ABC News president David Westin said. "He was a brilliant reviewer and a great reporter. But much more, he was our dear friend and colleague. Our thoughts and prayers are with Joel's family." ------------------- Siegel was outspoken about his battle with cancer, reporting on his illness, writing a book about it and lobbying on Capitol Hill on behalf of others afflicted with cancer. ------------------- In 1991, Siegel and actor Gene Wilder founded Gilda's Club, named for Wilder's late wife, comedian Gilda Radner, a nonprofit organization offering emotional and social support for cancer patients and their families and friends.

Ok...even scarier...Jay Leno went to a local park in CA to quiz people about July 4th. Holy cow, are Americans embarrassingly ignorant about our own fight for independence! One woman said we fought for freedom from the Greeks! Another said we won independence in 1922! Then a whole family, father, mother and son knew nothing about it...didn't know what happened on July 4th (signing of the Declaration of Independence...actually it wasn't that exact day, but whatever)...they didn't know how many original colonies there were...they didn't know the name of our national anthem! The grandfather was pulled in front of the camera and knew EVERYthing. No wonder people in other countries think we're all idiots...we are!

Wow...that was scary! The cable company just broke into all the channel broadcasts to announce a tornado warning for Fairfield and New Haven counties until "1:15pm"! I'm like, what? The weather is absolutely beautiful tonight (was all day!), not to mention it's way past 1:15pm! I called the cable company and told them this...it's a serious problem when the EBS broadcasts bad information...I told the girl who answered the phone that they need to investigate to determine what the heck happened and make sure it doesn't happen again.

CHRISTINE - LOL! Cats! You can't move a muscle or they'll want you to get up and feed them. And then they are sleeping soundly when you have to get ready for work wishing you could just go back to bed. But no, there they are, sleeping away while you go out and make money so you could buy that food and put a roof over their heads. :)

I remember my son being wide awake and crying the first few nights he came home. I had my mother staying with me as I had a c-section. One night her and I couldn't take it anymore, woke up my then husband (he worked so I stayed up with the baby and my mom helped out), gave him Conor and took off to her house to sleep a few hours. ______________________ And my cat will here me cough at 5 am and start howling for food. As soon as he is done eating he goes to sleep and I am awake!

My cats do things like "the Crusher". They'll look out the window at night and wail at whatever is out there. Claudius would do it every night. Then I'd get up all tired and be leaving for work, and there he is SLEEPING SOUNDLY on my bed. Sometimes I would go over and go "booga booga" just to annoy him as revenge. :) He didn't get it. Just gave me a dirty look like I was nuts.

CAT - LOL! That's the benefit of being a baby, I guess. One baby kept my entire building awake last night. The poor baby must have been teething or something because this baby SCREAMED from about 3 am until my clock went off at 5 am. Two minutes before my clock went off, the baby quieted down. My whole building was late for work this morning. I'm so tired, I can't think. This baby wasn't even in our building --- it was the building next door. It seems they didn't even close their windows during the 2-hour scream fest.

Christine - I buy the CHOCOLATE Special K! ........................ Cat - I remember when Philip was an infant & asking an "experienced" Mom when will I get caught up on my sleep ... she just laughed! I also remember being able to survive on just 6 hrs of sleep. Can't do that now, I need at least 7. .............................. Still behind in tapes, but I just cannot stand this Marty & Miles story. He actually expected her to have sex in their "wedding night"?!?? What kind of movies was he watching all those years in hosp?? He better tune into the Lifetime Channel & see what happens when women are pushed too far!!

HI all - just checking in. Hot, hot, hot here. Rained a bit earlier, hope it cools things down some. Barely slept last night; Etain the Crusher was at work. Just some random thoughts - I just hate how stupid this new Marty is. The actress is OK, not thrilled with her. She projects too much weakness for my taste. Marty was on her way to being stronger than this. The guy playing Miles is really good, IMO, but of course the character is dreadful. You need a good villain, though. The story line is just preposterous, though, with the facts they assembled. It's hard to imagine John being threatened by Miles, and why would Marty sacrifice to protect John?

Anita: we switched over to kayaks many years ago as it is easier to take the trip with kids, small ones with the parents, older ones in either tandums or alone. I find them less wearing on the back also. Although I must admit to my pure laziness, I brought a rubber raft and tied it to my son's kayak and floated the entire trip! We do this trip every year, approx 40 of us, and I bet there will be more parents in rafts next year! :)

The dogs do pick their owners! ............................... Anita - that camping trip sounds like a blast! How old are your gilrs again? I have a 9 yr old son, but he says he doesn't want to go camping. He claims to be a "city" boy! One of these days we'll get him out there! .................................. kmp - I just love that story! Good thing that little girl didn't have a camcorder when that Middle Wife showed up!!

Hey everybody! Thanks for the freshness info ... I've just never purchased milk past the date ... I'm trying to do the Special K thing, and I didn't bring milk since it's in the machine, but there was only chocolate milk ... now I think Special K tastes kinda funny anyway, so I don't know if it was the milk or the cereal! My stomach was OK, but I must admit that I did have a bit of "looseness" in the afternoon. Today I stopped at the gas station and bought my own milk chug! A guy who works for us owns the machine. I don't know how or why, but he does! So it's not like a machine w/ fresh sandwiches that gets changed every day. He has burritos, bfast sandwiches, juice, power drinks, choc milk ... stuff like that.

Sounds like lots of fun on the rivers this summer! I have never been on a kayak. We did some rafting (with guides) and that was great fun, when the kids (and we) were younger. Cat, the children are beautiful. Lovely picture. Looks like they are both flourishing.
Janet

Anita, the Shenendoah near Bentonville VA is a good river for kayaks and kids, it is quite shallow and there are long stretches with few rapids. One kid did manage to roll and lose his glasses and paddle, but he was working it. There are several outfitters that will drop you off up river and then you paddle back to the campground.

Someone shared this with me & having given birth to 3 kids, I thought it was funny. The "Middle Wife" by an Anonymous 2nd grade teacher I've been teaching now for about fifteen years. I have two kids myself, but the best birth story I know is the one I saw in my own second-grade classroom a few years back. When I was a kid, I loved show -and-tell. So, I always have a few sessions with my students. It helps them get over shyness and usually, show-and-tell is pretty tame. Kids bring in pet turtles, model airplanes, pictures of fish they catch, stuff like that. And I never, ever place any boundaries or limitations on them. If they want to lug it in to school and talk about it, they're welcome. Well, one day this little girl, Erica, a very bright, very outgoing kid, takes her turn and waddles up to the front of the class with a pillow stuffed under her sweater. She holds up a snapshot of an infant. "This is Luke, my baby brother, and I'm going to tell you about his birthday." "First, Mom and Dad made him as a symbol of their love, and then Dad put a seed in my Mom's stomach, and Luke grew in there. He ate for nine months through an umbrella cord." She's standing there with her hands on the pillow, and I'm trying not to laugh and wishing I had my camcorder with me. The kids are watching her in amazement. "Then, about two Saturdays ago, my Mom starts saying and going , 'Oh, Oh, Oh, Oh! ' Erica puts a hand behind her back and groans. "She walked around the house for, like an hour, 'Oh, oh, oh!' Now this kid is doing a hysterical duck walk and groaning. "My Dad called the middle wife. She delivers babies, but she doesn't have a sign on the car like the Domino's man. They got my Mom to lie down in bed like this." Then Erica lies down with her back against the wall. "And then, pop! My Mom had this bag of water she kept in there in case he got thirsty, and it just blew up and spilled all over the bed, like psshhheew!" This kid has her legs spread with her little hands miming water flowing away. It was too much! "Then the middle wife starts saying 'push, push,' and 'breathe, breathe.' They started counting, but never even got past ten. Then, all of a sudden, out comes my brother. He was covered in yucky stuff that they all said it was from Mom's play-center, so there must be a lot of toys inside there. Then Erica stood up, took a big theatrical bow and returned to her seat. I'm sure I applauded the loudest. Ever since then, when it's show-and-tell day, I bring my camcorder, just in case another "Middle Wife" comes along. Live every day as if it is your LAST chance to make someone happy!

Puck sorry to hear that the golden didn't work out..but yeah for you for going through a rescue to find a new dog. I'm sure the right one is out there somewhere!
Anita

cw, we were there 5 nights... 6 full days of camping activity...we extened 2 nights longer.. my friend and I with the kids after the dads went home. 2 days wouldn't have been enough for all we did....I'll tell you, Kayaking on the Potomac River is a lot different the putting around on our friends quiet little lake....the river is 7 1/2 miles across at that point...and it gets a little bit of a chop..not much thankfully the day we kayaked but it's not a small placid lake! it was a good workout that's for sure. I like kayaking with kids better then a canoe..... too worried about the kids tipping the canoe...better center of gravity for us in a kayak! :) hmm, we're not far from the Shenandoah though..that would be fun!
Anita

Too bad Puck, but I guess just like we choose, she chose too. Main thing is she has a good home, and you will still find your dog!
Christine

Puck, sorry the Golden didn't work out, your next puppy is out there somewhere. Thanks for posting the spoilers. Anita, sounds like fun, but two days was enough? I went canoeing (14 miles) on the Shenendoah with an 11 year old in the bow and we kept up with the teenagers! I am proud of us. I also like the musical, it did everything a soap is supposed to do. It was different, it wasn't horrible music, it advanced the storyline and it was about interpersonal relationships. What was not to like? :)

what little I saw of the high school Prom Musical was cute...I didn't mind it. We missed a big chunk while on vacation. We were 'camping' at a State Park...in a cabin not a tent but we had no phones, tv, internet, dishwasher...but we did have a kitchen, bath and a/c :) :) :) We were on the Potomac River, I went on the Father's Day Kayak trip with Katie and her friends and dads...Gary was sick :( feeling better but not up to the kayak trip (bronchitis) . . . . . . I had a lot of fun and we hunted for sharks teeth on Fossil Beach.....we were with 2 other families...all in our own cabin till the last 2 days....after everyone else left she and I and our 4 kids doubled up in our cabin (2 bedrooms)....like a giant sleepover for 2 nights..the girls all had a blast!!!! we swam, we hiked, we dug in the sand....fun, fun, fun.....
Anita

exactly as Cristian said to Blair..let Starr and Cole be together and they'll break up soon enough (and if not then it may be true love and who can deny that?) :) I can understand Marty's view on not wanting her son involved with the daughter of the man that raped her....but hey, that's between the parents, not the kids...
Anita

the sell by day on dairy is that..the sell by date, not the use by date.....generally it's good for 7 days beyond that, which would have been yesterday...so if it's not sour (believe me if milk is bad you can tell, unlike other foods) I think you're okay if you drank it.
Anita
-
Nigh Owl - Ew! I would definetly NOT drink it. For most items that are dated, it's more of a freshness/taste thing (ie - crackers, cereal), but for something that can spoil, like milk, it's more of a health/spoilage issue...I wouldn't drink it if I were you!
LisaG

Freshness Question for y'all ... I just bought a "milk chug" from the machine here at work ... says sell by Jun 17. Am I drinking bad milk?

Does Cole really think that Starr doesn't like him? Her Dad tried to kill him, does he really think that Starr means what she says?? ........................ On another note, I still can't understand why both sets of parents can't see how stupid it is to forbid their kids to be together. Heck, by now they may have gotten tired of each other and broken up anyway!
Night Owl

I like Langston, too! I don't mind them softening Starr a bit, because she was really turning into a diva-beetch for a while there! But yeah, she's gone a bit too soft. Let's see some of that fire when Todd comes home and sees them together!
Puck

I like Starr's friend Langston. Sometimes I feel like they gave her Starr's personality! Starr used to be so much fun. I can't stand to see her whine over Cole. He's so not worth it. Merf~ I agree that it's a waste to make Tate and his Dad involved with the arsons. You'd think the show would be happy to have two handsome guys who can act and would want to keep them around.

Hi all - I have a general question about guitars. I want to start learning to play a guitar again (I took lessons on a borrowed guitar many years ago) and I don't know it the Esteban method/guitar is worth the money or if I should try to buy a guitar separately. One on one lessons around where I live are just too expensive, so I want a self-teach class, but I also want a decent guitar, but I'm clueless as to what to look for. Anyone have any suggestions? Anyone ever use the Esteban package or know someone that had success with it? THANKS!!! :)

noon CDT 6/24 Gee, I enjoyed the prom sequences - good music, dancing, choreography. Love watchin' Kathy/Marcy strut her stuff and boyoboy, can she sing! Thought the kids are talented. Ah well, different strokes...Tate's dad as arsonist highly unsatisfying - more months of tripe.

Watch "high School Chemistry", though! Kathy Brier sings that to make Langston talk/dance with Markko. As you're FFing, if you see her with a half dozen hunky men while she sings and dances, you've arrived!

I'm about to start watching this week's shows. I plan on fast forwarding through the musical. It looks awful. I guess this is the writers hitting rock bottom, huh? They've written all the terrible dialogue they can think of, so now they're going to make people sing the bad dialogue instead. Next week: One Life to Live goes claymation! Or how about One Life to Live acted out by finger puppets? Then they wouldn't have to pay the actors any more. That's one way to cut the budget.

OH MY GOD....I am going to KILL my sister!!! I just spent 2 hours trying to balance my checking account balance which was off by $80...turns out she never cashed a check I wrote her at Christmas back in December of last year! ARGH!!!---------I know sometimes I can be overly orderly, but I've discovered that my sister is probably the most disorganized person I've ever known. I found this out while we were on vacation where we had a few scares when she suddenly couldn't find her license or her credit card or her passport or her plane ticket, etc. She has the most overstuffed wallet full of, well, crap...old receipts, business cards, stuff she'll never need or use, but she also puts important stuff in there, so no wonder she can't find anything!---------Like me, she also brought a travel organizer, but it never seemed to contain all the travel stuff she used/needed. I also had a travel organizer, but at least I ALWAYS put ALL my travel docs, tickets, etc in the ONE organizer...never lost a thing. Her disorganized Italian side is overpowering the organized German side of her! ;) My mind reels when I think about when she gets old and her memory starts to go, but I hesitate to say anything to her or make suggestions...she has all the right tools (ie - organizers), but won't USE them. oy!

Yeah, Kathy was the only true pro in the group, and I was hooting over the High School Chemistry number! But yeah, I FF'd through most of the songs yesterday. ......................................................................How much do I love Sonny's new lawyer?!?!?!? She's such an interesting actress! She's in a scene with Spinelli and Sonny, where they are explaining that Jason is the father of Liz's baby, and she finds herself using Spinelli's cant in her crisp, educated tones, and stops herself, horrified. "Do you mean to say that Jason is the father of The Innocent One? -- (pause, gasp) I mean, the child?" I wish they could use her more. And how funny that they've resurrected her Breyer's commercial from several years ago. She's drop dead sexy, too! Hmm....who can she be paired with?!??!?! Drat, I don't think there are many men of her age on the show, except Luke or Mike. Too bad they killed off Carly's Dad....

I agree that Britney's voice is way better than Starr's. Even Langston's was not bad. Though none of them were all that good. Kathy Brier stole the show with High School Chemistry, hands down! That girl CAN sing! I didn't enjoy the musical as much as I thought I would. I FF'd some of the boring songs, like the cheerleader one and some of Starr's songs. I did like when Blair sang to Starr, that was sweet.

I must have missed the kiss. But yeah, an OPP/KKK person, even if trying to live a respectable life, wouldn't "contaminate" himself by such intimacy with an "unclean" person. .................................... and with all due respect to Marcy McBain, who has to read what's written for her, Brittney has a much better voice than Starr, by miles. Sorry Starr, cuz I love ya!

That would be so evil of him to lure Adriana/Laila that way. And, sorry, but unrealistic. I've lived in the South for over two decades, and I can tell you that true racists (the kind who would join a group, and commit arsons!) can't do more than social niceties in the presence of the kinds of people they hate. Most can't even do that much, and so they surround themselves only with "the right sort of people". There's no way a member of the KKK (or the OPP in this case) could sustain a fake romance with an "unclean" person. If for no other reason than that the whole idea of "purity" is nearly like a religion, and any deviation from "purity" would be considered damaging to their souls. Nuh-uh -- ain't gonna happen. I can't buy it.
Puck
-
Connie - yes, that's got to be it, but really...it's pretty sick. If he's a violent racist, you'd think it would be really hard for him to be close to her.
Kathleen
-
I've read speculation that Tate is using his working for Adriana and Layla, and now his dating Adriana, as a cover.
Connie
-
I don't get the Adriana thing either. I mean, he KNOWS Carlotta is her aunt, and I'm ASSUMING he knows Tonio is her brother, and of course he knows Dorian is her mother -- does he think that somehow Adriana's father is white, and Tonio is half-white or something? I don't get it.....
Puck
-
Cat - your children are beautiful! I love that picture :)
Kathleen
-
Night Owl - I'm a little confused on the arsonist story too. If Tate is OPP, then why is he trying to be with Adriana? Or is he using her as a cover? Pretty scary, since he tried to kill her brother! And what about this prom musical? Most of it was pretty cheesey, though there were a few cute moments. I like Markko and Langston!
Kathleen
-
NIGHT OWL - It sure is! It's retro until like July 13, I believe. I feel like hiding in the closet with a blanket over my head. I saw the TK pacifier clip, and yeah, it looks like that noonie was headed straight for his mouth! That's why they cut the camera over to Matheson really quickly.
Diane
-
Hey ... Does anybody know if Mercury is in retrograde this week???
Night Owl
-
Can we talk about the arsonist?? I don't really get it. They seemed to kinda mess up that storyline. At least Rex gets to say "I told you so"! ........................... I thought Nicholas died?? Guess I need to read the entire articles in SOD. Kinda surprised that he signed, but I'm glad that he is staying. ..................... The reveal of Jerry Jax was genius, but is he still tormenting Nick & Robin? Is he going to get away with the whole Metro Court thing? Is that #3 guy still in town?? I haven't seen much of GH lately! LOL!!
Night Owl

"AMC recalls Hayley/Mateo romance, begun on the shore of Pine Valley Lake" ... Oh, no, it didn't! Their romance began at the OCEAN! You all have visited PA's coastline, haven't you??
Night Owl

Or if they have a water bottle handy, they could rinse it off that way, too, since so many people carry those these days. but I suppose parents of babies are already carrying so much stuff.

Tuesday, 5:45 PM PDT - Home sweet home! Boy! Had dentist appointment this afternoon and they didn't allow enough time so I have to go back in the morning. Am I ticked! No problems, just a thorough cleaning as I hadn't been in for a bit and doctor was busy with another patient to check on me. Rats! . . . . . I did catch "Zach" and the pacifier. Baby dropped, Zach picked it up, wiped in on the inside of his jacket, and I think he blew on it. You know - to get the germs off. LOL . . . . I have seen people do that - both moms and dads. Yes, spit is the universal cleaner I do believe between moms and their young children. :)

Sad to see Randolph Mantooth go so soon. He's another one who's kept himself in great shape for his age! Anyone remember when he played a cop friend of Bo's when they did a remote in the streets of NY? (RSW & RM are real-life friends, so it's fun to see them interact, both when he played a good guy and now a bad guy.)

EWWWW!!! (pacifier comments) I'm sooooo glad I never had to learn that particular skill! But how funny that TK was on automatic parent-pilot!
Puck

So when a parent cleans off a pacifier, they actually stick that whole nipple in their mouth and pop it back out?
Diane
-
NIGHT OWL - I guess when people have kids, a lot of 'spit' is shared, huh? EW. :) I remember my mother wetting a tissue with her own spit and cleaning off a spot on our faces when we were out. Grosses me out now but it didn't then.

C'mon Diane, you can't just pick it up off the floor & put back into a baby's mouth! LOL!! If you don't have sudsy water handy ... ya gotta improvise!
Night Owl

CAT - What's this? Parents clean off their baby's pacifiers with their own mouths??
Diane
-
He's a great big brother. They do look alike, don't they? Anyone catch TK's move yesterday with the baby? He dropped the pacifier and TK picked it up, wiped it on his coat and then moved to put it in his mouth to "clean" it off! The practiced move of an experienced dad. :) You can see it in some of the other scenes with Spike.

Cat: beautiful photo and they look so much alike! Max is going to have the girl's calling him soon enough!

I don't know what they saw in GL this past year; I've been a devoted follower for 15 years but this year, I've actually been able to FF thru most of the shows without remorse. Have to say that these days, my favorite is AMC, then OLTL, then GL (the three that I follow)

Oh, Cat, they are beautiful! Thank you for sharing!!

Tuesday, 4:35 AM PDT - Cat: What a beautiful picture. I predict that Max is going to be the "bestest" big brother that anyone has ever seen. Etain is one lucky little sister.

Cat - Oh, what an adorable picture!__________ Night Owl - Yes, GL and Y&R tied for Outstanding Daytime Drama. Apparently you can see video clips of the Emmys on YouTube if you don't mind the quality.

I always get a kick out of how babies light up when they see their siblings. It's like, "Oh, good. I'm not the only kid around here."
Diane

Oh!! That's a great picture, CAT! LOL! I love that little outfit she's got on! And look at them -- they are looking at the camera in the same exact way. She's so tiny compared to Max. But, boy, she looks like she's going to match him wit-for-wit one day soon.
Diane

That was a struggle. The photo was huge and I had such a time resizing it.
Cat

Oh, please more baby pics!! ..... I can't stand that Ric Lansing on GH!! When is somebody gonna take him down??? Guess that makes the guy a good actor! So glad that Genie won!! I gotta admit tho, it seems kinda unfair to put 1 month of work against a whole year! Was there a tie for best drama??
Night Owl

Cat, that makes me smile too.... can't wait to see more pictures!_____________________ Regarding the Emmy's, the bits I saw, I did notice very few ABCer's winning. Very glad for Genie though!

Genie Francis took best supporting actress for playing Laura on GH..........................Rick Hearst took Best Supporting Actor (Ric Lansing, GH).............................Those were the only ABC winners.

I'm glad I took that photo when I did, because her skin looks so clear, even if she's a bit jaundiced. That's gone, but here skin isn't quite to clear now. I'll see what photos I have to post
Cat

CAT - Oh, that's so cool that Max calls Etain a "super baby"! LOL! That makes me smile really big. :) She sounds like a very bright baby. Feel free to post up any new pictures of her and/or her and Max together. She's so beautiful. I know we'd all love to see more.
Diane

She's fabulous, and Max is over the moon. He thinks she's a "super baby", because she's so alert and responsive.
Cat

Thanks, Cat! I didn't think that letting the beans sit overnight would make that much difference. I could understand if I were to grind up the whole bag & let that sit, but hey, I do pay extra to do that at the supermarket now, don't I? Of course my coffee sits in genuine Tupperware, but still ... I never thought about that much ... Oh, well, if DH doesn't complain, what's the harm??? ................ HOWS THAT BABY???? And how does Max like being an older brother?????
Night Owl
-
Night Owl - Only if you are a true coffee connaisseuse. I buy Starbucks, but at a discount store that sells stuff that hasn't sold at the supermarket. It is after the expiration date, but with coffee, it doesn't really matter. The only time it really matters is if the coffee is freshly roasted. Then, it's really fresh. You need to be near the source of the beans and roaster, though. Like in Hawaii. ;)
Cat
-
Any Coffee Connoisseurs out there?? We used to have a "grind'n'brew" coffee pot with a timer. You fill the water & beans, set the timer, and the pot grinds the beans & makes the coffee. It broke. Now we have a grinder, and a coffee pot. Now, I don't drink coffee, but I clean the kitchen, so I grind the beans! I grind the beans at night & get the coffee ready so that I have one less thing to do in the morning. My Mom says, "What's the point of buying the beans if you're going to grind it the night before?" Does it really lose THAT much flavor??

Anyone catch the daytime emmys last night? I saw only bits and pieces of it.

If I were you, I'd go online and type one of the models you want to see where you can get the best price. I would also highly recommend B&H photo and video...that's where I got my digital camera and supplies at an excellent price. My friend who does professional photography on the side uses them exclusively...they also sell computers.

Janet - here's some best picks from Consumer Reports...-------------- Quick Picks - LAPTOPS-------------- For features and long battery life: Apple Macbook Pro 15-inch $2,000 - Lightweight but full-featured, this laptop had the longest battery life of all tested 15.4-inch models. The display is very bright with a wide viewing angle. It ran warmer than the others under full load. Tech support for Apple laptops is superior; reliability is undistinguished.-------------- Smart pick for on-the-go computing: Lenovo ThinkPad T60 $1,200 - Among the lightest laptops, the Lenovo offers a 15.4-inch screen, larger than you'd get with a slim-and-light computer, but without sacrificing battery life. It has some extras, such as a fingerprint reader and built-in docking port, but no memory-card reader or FireWire port. You'll need to add your own. Its speakers are not well-suited for multimedia use. Tech support for Lenovo laptops is superior; reliability is undistinguished.-------------- Best values: Toshiba Satellite A135-S4427 $750 - Among the lightest Windows laptops, this one has very good ergonomics and average battery life. Toshiba’s reliability and tech support are undistinguished.-------------- Best desktop replacements: Apple Macbook Pro 17-inch, $2,800 or Toshiba Satellite P205-S6287, $1,290 - The lightest 17-inch model tested, the Apple offers great speed, design, and features. Though pricey, it has the best display we've seen in a laptop, fine speakers, and longer battery life than any model in the Ratings. Tech support for Apple laptops is superior; reliability is undistinguished. Well-priced, with a strong feature set, the Toshiba is suitable for most users. It had a dedicated numeric keypad and ran cooler than most other models tested. Its Harman/Kardon speakers bested those on nearly all the others. Toshiba's reliability and tech support are undistinguished.-------------- Quick Picks - DESKTOPS---------------Best value: Dell Dimension E521 $655, CR Best Buy - This offers a lot for the money, including a comfortable keyboard and an optical mouse. It’s also quiet. Dell’s technical support and reliability have been undistinguished, according to our surveys.-------------- For reliability and support: Apple iMac 20-inch $1,500 - An all-in-one desktop that includes an LCD screen, this had excellent speed and is packed with features despite its small footprint. Its ergonomics were very good, except for the mouse, which was uncomfortable. Apple’s desktops have proven reliable, and the brand’s tech support is superior.

Janet -- no office Depot? I picked up a Toshiba Satellite (model L35-S2316) for $399 after rebates (I paid $549 in the store). I love it! It's wireless! It does have Vista, though, and let me tell you, Vista is a PIG! P-I-G PIG! I'm ordering more RAM on eBay...................... Anyway, it's 1.8ghz processor, 512mb RAM, 30 GB hard drive, and the usual blah blah blah. The sale started the Sunday I bought it (just this last weekend -- the tenth of June?), so it might still be on!

Help! Old laptop died and isn't worth repairing. WHAT do you guys recommend? I need middle of the price-range model. We have a Best Buy, Staples, Sam's and WalMart where I can look. I am going to a writers' workshop next week so this is a bad time for the old laptop to die.

I just saw the funniest commercial! It was for "Live at the Emmys" on SoapNet tonight -- you know, where people talk about the fashions and such. It was Chandra Wilson (Bailey from Grey's Anatomy) and Ty Treadway. Chandra said, "I'm so happy to be hosting with Ty McTreadway." I 'bout fell over!

Puck - You're right about the Native American family classifications. My husband worked with a Native American in New Mexico who was always taking bereavement time off because a grandmother or grandfather had died. After the third grandmother, we started wondering what was going on until he explained it to him. Convenient, huh? lol And thanks to you and cw for explaining the second cousin, etc. thing because I never understood that.
Connie
-
The "removes" come from those who are not of the same generation. So the children of siblings are first cousins to each other. THe children of first cousins are second cousins to each other. The first cousin, when referring to the child of a first cousin, refers to that person as "first cousin, once removed". The second cousin's child, to that same first cousin, is "first cousin twice removed". The "removes" go in either direction, so that the second cousin, in referring to his second cousin's parent, says "second cousin once removed" -- which is also the same designation for the relationship to second cousin's child. The only exception, of course, is the first cousin, referring to the first cousin's parents, who are, of course, uncle and aunt -- not "first cousin once removed". It's so much easier in many Native American societies! Anyone older than you, who is of your parents' generation, is an uncle or aunt, and anyone older than that is a grandmother or grandfather!
Puck

I would be cool to see Dan and Nathan, they were Kevin and Joey at different times and haven't acted together. I hope Dorian has some scenes with Joey too.

I am sorry that Phil Carey is leaving OLTL, but hey, does anyone really die in Llanview?? I sure hope everybody returns for the funeral!! I remember his last funeral when he faked his death, it was really good & hard to believe that he wasn't dead in real life! Remember all the wives were there, and they all remembered their weddings, even Blair, she had a flashback as "Asian Blair". I have never seen that before, using the orig actor's scene for a flashback. Last I heard Asa was the most-married man in Daytime. Does he still hold the record? I love Nigel's album of all the weddings! Sure hope Nigel stays on in Llanview. What ever happened to him & Roxy? Don't they still own the motel in Angel Square?

I did hear that John Loprieno and Nathan Fillion are coing back! What day is this on?
Chrisitne

OMG, that would be so cool if they do return! That would be sending him off in style, as he ought to go. I hate that they're killing him off, but then I can't think of anyone but Phil Carey playing him, and he's done with the role when they wanted him to be recurring.
Puck
-
Ooooooooh! Don't know if this is true, but I saw this on Mediadomain: James DePaiva, John Loprieno, Dan Gauthier, Tonja Walker, & Nathan Fillion will be returning for Asa's funeral. Did anyone else hear about this?
Kathleen

Thanks for the "relations" info, cw!! Now, how about the children of 2 first cousins? What are they to each other? Second cousins? ..... Sounds like a great trip you have planned, Jennifer! I was at the San Diego Zoo many years ago. Nice place, different from the midwest as they don't need indoor enclosures for the winter.

From TVGuide.com: Oh No! One Life to Live Cowboy Will Die Off Screen Philip Carey courtesy ABCDebbie Downer alert! As reported in TV Guide's June 18 issue, One Life to Live has decided to kill off Phil Carey's beloved character, Asa Buchanan. The much-married, conniving cowboy will bite the dust off camera in August. Sigh. Carey made his debut on OLTL in 1979. His Asa was established as the ornery patriarch of the billionaire Buchanan clan, who relocated from Texas to romance the ladies of Llanview, Pennsylvania. Back in the late '70s and early '80s, the daytime soaps loved to copycat the hit primetime sudsers, so viewers saw lots of characters inspired by the success of Dallas. Hence, the Buchanans of OLTL. Another World even launched a short-lived spinoff soap, Texas, which aired from 1980-82. But I digress... As I reported right here, Carey's contract expired in April '07 and he refused to go on recurring status. For the record, his last airdate was Thursday, April 26. It's just a pity Carey will have no on-screen farewell — especially since the soap veteran wowed us all by returning to OLTL last fall, after he had survived lung cancer. I do understand that there are egos and economics at odds here, but it seems like Carey and his fans deserve a better resolution for Asa's Life than an off-screen demise. It's hard for me imagine our blustery Asa just going quietly into that good night.

TGIF - 4:54 AM PDT - Morning: Merfuf - how strange - I too had a dream about Thorsten night before last. I tried SO hard to remember it and couldn't. Just remember him smiling and laughing and that huge grin of his. Weird that AMC had a dream "sequence" on yesterday's show....... It is OFFICIAL - I head for San Diego on July 1 with Rick and the kids (niece-in-law going down earlier to visit with some friends). I have a plane ticket and everything!!! Sort of dreading not having my quiet time at home, but think this will be good as I will be away from EVERYTHING - including almost-ex-bosslet. Will have the Saturday before I leave and then Sunday and Monday when I return - but no ones knows that. :) Days are already being planned out, but hope I get a minute or two to myself. Tickets obtained for SeaWorld, San Diego Zoo (which I have ALWAYS wanted to see), Legoland (?), baby shower for other niece-in-law, and youngest nephew's birthday. That should about do it! And thank you LisaG for the Tidal Pool info. I would really enjoy that - anything near the water! . . . . . . Things very busy at work. Hasn't been much of a let-up and I'm still "recovering" from fellow admin being out a week. I've been assigned to a task force to train new managers, and volunteered to create the PowerPoint presentation. It turned out quite well if I do say so myself and might open a door for me to work with our new graphics person. Not much in the way of graphics created at the Seattle office - all done in Southern California office. Of course, all I need is something else to do. ;) . . . . Best get myself in gear. Going to be a very long day as partners and managers have been traveling a great deal and today is time and expense day so lots to do.

NIGHT OWL - That's a good point that that guy got to live at least two more years with that new liver. There was no way to detect microscopic cancer in it so I don't know why he was so full of blame. Yes, what a bizarre dream, MERF! Reminds me of my cousin's recent dream of being in a circus where two acrobats tried to beat her up. I dreamed I breastfed a cat. Hmmm...
